Thanks To Ray...

The Eastchurch Gap Community Group Committee would like to say thanks to Ray for undertaking the road repairs in Third Avenue.
This involved getting the road stones delivered and filling in the holes.
Looks a lot better - I am sure residents are most grateful for his effort.

  1. He ended up with a huge bill for the cost of hiring a 3 ton excavator, dumper truck and the transport and fuel. Also the road stone and tarmac planings cost him a fortune. Some kind people did contribute what they could; everyone certainly benefits from all his hard work and huge expense.

They certainly do you are right, but with the community group in place, we are now hoping that the group will be able to liaise with the local council and parish council on behalf of us all that live in this area on getting the roads maintained by them rather than individuals having to pay out.

Please be assured that the local community group are working hard behind the scenes to try and make this a better area for us all to live.

If you would like to contribute any ideas or help to this local group then please email any of the committee. The details are on the right hand side of the web page.

I was sorry to hear Ray ended up out of pocket for his efforts BUT
this situation is far from unique.
It has long been the same people each time who organise the road-stones and it's the same people who turn up to do the work - and none of us are getting any younger...
    Contributions to costs...
It has to be understood that many people are not in a financial position to contribute to the costs involved so its only fair to collect what you can in advance before any work goes ahead.
This is only one of the reasons why we are trying to get the community venture off the ground for the benefit of us all.
If we can get a grant to help with our roads - (we are trying) so much the better if not I am sure we can come up with a fair scheme to collect money first and then if there is enough money in the pot we can go ahead and buy the materials and hire the machinery required.
To date its been local residents labour, their tools and their trailers we have used for free -
(we broke Vic's trailer last time out).
The only way forward is with a local committee which can represent and help us all.
If you want to help - the names are listed to the right at the top - so please contact us.
